Loveday Abbey Road has a rich and philanthropic history. The building originates from the 1830s when it was built as a single family dwelling for Alexander Tod, Esquire. After various renovations including the addition of wings, it became Greathed Lodge, named after Mrs Mary Greathed who founded “The Ladies Care Home” for women who were unable to cope with hardships.
